The Wife was Right

I guess leaving my protein shakes in their plastic bottles for a few days of baking in the sun does leave the bottles with a very disgusting smell to them; even after being cleaned.  Why did I never notice this smell before? If I drink from this bottle, does it confirm my commitment to the sport or is it proof of my desperation at having nothing better to drink?  You decide.

    Yuck.

I didn’t really notice until it was brought up to me. Now I need to go buy new containers and make a conscious effort to take them in when done.

That is one side effect. I recommend only using a plastic shaker bottle and washing it in the dishwasher after every use. Otherwise, you’ll never get that smell out.

We’ve all been there. Don’t feel too bad. My mother used to throw out countless water bottles when I was in high school.

I went out this weekend and bought a couple of the 16oz bottles from Wal-mart for a buck each. They are small enough to fit in my lunch box, large enough for my 1 serving of protein powder and cheap enough that if I forget to clean them out, I am not out a lot of money. With that said, today I brought it in from my car after my workout, and cleaned it out with some hot water. No sense in wasting money if I don’t have too.

Last year I had a spell of making myself protein shakes everyday. Then I ran out of the stuff and didn’t have any for around 3 months.
When I went to use the containers again, I hadn’t washed them when they were last used. The smell was disgusting and there was mold growing inside.

I have had the mold before. Those go in the trash without hesitation.
