Fitness Myth’s??

confusedI just got done listening to a fitness audio book called Ultimate Fitness written by Gina Kolata. Ms. Kolata is not a Dr, Scientist or even a Personal Trainer. She is simply a reporter that gathers information and puts it into a form that people can comprehend. This particular book brought up a lot of things that I always considered to be true but am now starting to question. While I am researching this new information, I thought i would throw it out here to see what people think. Please give me your thoughts and any links to proof either for or against these “myths”.

Myth 1: Adding lean muscle does not increase your metabolism. She states that weightlifting has little to no effect on resting metabolism

Myth 2: Creatine does not aid in muscle growth or strength. It only creates a water effect on the muscle which will eventually go down.

Please help me to understand this.

“Adding lean muscle does not increase your metabolism” – that does not make any sense. While I disagree with that statement, I think Kolata’s number of added calories being zero is closer to the truth than those who claim that each pound of muscle mass cosmumes 50 to 100 a day.
