Missed Workout

So today I was not able to go to the gym because of some work constraints. Have you ever had that moment of panic when you realize that your workout schedule is now destroyed and you wonder if your progress will be impeded by the missed day? You then start to wonder how you can make up that day and how that will affect the rest of your week.
Will your rest day get put on hold for the sake of cardio?
Will you throw cardio out the door all together so you can complete the missed weight training day?
Will you just skip weight training because you want to lose a few more pounds before Thanksgiving piles it back on?
And how does this affect the week after?
I mean, you probably already planned on missing a day or two around the holiday because there was just too much to do and not enough time to do it, right? Suddenly a week that looked like it was goign to be great went down the tubes because of one little lost lunch hour workout. Might as well just take off the rest of November? WRONG!
After a few deep breathes, I relized that missing one workout is not the end of the world. In fact, my body will probably be thanking me for throwing it a challenge. We need to learn to control our workouts so that they are enjoyable. We cannot let our workouts control us. When fitenss becomes a chore, its not longer fun and we are likely to quit doing it.
I am not worried about missing today. I may go to the gym tomorrow or I may not. I am not worried about it. I will pick up where I left off when the time is right.
