New Year’s Health Resolutions

Its that time of year again to make  New Year’s resolutions.  I don’t remember making any last year. If I did, I am not sure that I followed them. This year is going to be different. It has to be different.  I have achieved great strides in my health over the last couple years and I think its time to take things to the next level.  Here is what I have in mind.

  1. Reduce my sodium intake to the recommended values of 1400mg a day.
  2. I will not eat anything that is not 100% natural. That means if I cannot pronounce it, I will not eat it.
  3. Consume only organic foods (this will be hard)
  4. Track my daily food intake for all the world to see
  5. Track my daily workouts for all the world to see.
  6. I want to directly help at least one person achieve their fitness goals.
  7. Go Primal with my eating. ( I am looking forward to this one the most)

Notice that I have nothing in my resolutions about losing weight?  I am not looking to lose any weight this year. Rather, I would like to make my self healthier; from the inside out.  This is the year to do it. I am not getting any younger.

I just discovered your blog and read through many of the archived postings. I love your writing style and overall approach to fitness. I began Body for Life in 2003 because I faced some challenging litigation and wanted to be as healthy and strong as I could be. I was very pleased with the results. I kept a written log of the eating and exercise plans. I just purchased P90X and am going to start the program at the beginning of the year. I am a web developer and graphic designer and spend way too many hours at the computer. That’s another challenge…creating balance in my life and stepping away from the computer. The other challenge…I’m old…60 is just around the corner, but I’ve been active and have eaten relatively healthy foods during my life. I’m not motivated by food and am happy eating the same things day after day. I look forward to following your blog.

Hey Donna! Thanks for the great comments about my blog. I too am a Systems Engineer by day spending upwards to 12 hours a day on a computer. It takes a lot of work to force myself back onto the computer to work on the blog. Thank you so much for appreciating it!

Congrats on your recent purchase of P90x. You will definitely have to keep me up to date on your progress and if you like it. I have used it many times and find it to be amazing. It has really turned into a great cult following as well and support is never far away.

Thanks again for commenting. It means a lot to me.
