P90x Challenge – Week 9

Week9

Neale

Neale_blogI have been back at it this week.  I’m finding that I want to workout and miss it when I don’t which is a strange feeling for me.  I’m noticing more that my body is changing and am getting more compliments from friends and co-workers that I’m losing weight.  Although I’m trimming down my weight is seeming to fluctuate a little so I’m not sure if it’s muscle that’s being built or if I’m truly gaining some weight back.  I’m proudest this week of the Yoga and Kenpo.  This is the first time I was able to do both workouts all the way through and feel comfortable with the moves.  I’m still not as flexible as I need to be for Yoga but it’s getting better each time.

Well, last week was my final week with P90X.

There were several factors that came into play. First was that I never got to the point where I felt comfortable with any of the workouts. Second, I really missed a lot and wasn’t seeing the benefits of the workouts. Third, the time commitment was far too much for me. If I had a convenient place to workout during lunch or even if the workouts were 45 minutes rather than an hour-plus, I think I might have been able to handle it, but I just couldn’t make it work. Tony Horton’s annoying countenance wasn’t the straw that broke the camel’s back, but it was certainly a contributing factor.

Instead of doing P90X, I’m going to spend the next 30 days doing the EA Fitness 30-day Challenge on the Wii. I like the workouts a lot more. I can get through them and they are a bit shorter. I know that this is only further evidence that I need to workout more, but for my schedule as well as my current fitness capabilities, this is the way I’m going.

Sorry to be a quitter on P90X, but I’d like to get to a place where I feel I can handle it better. From a fitness perspective, I just felt all along that it was far too advanced for me.

I switched things up last week as I am getting a bit run down with P90x. Instead of Plyo on Tuesday I instead went swam laps at my gym. On Thursday, I continue to do the Biggest Loser Weight Loss yoga program. I made Thursday a doubles day. I did Yoga in the morning and went swimming in the afternoon.  I skipped the legs and back workout on Friday and didn’t do any cardio on Saturday except for a few walks with the family.  Whatever I did worked though because I am down to 170lbs and 10% body fat.
